Riley Blackthorne is beginning to learn that there are worse things than death by demon. And love is just one of them…
Seventeen-year-old Riley has about had it up to here. After the devastating battle at the Tabernacle, trappers are dead and injured, her boyfriend Simon is gravely injured, and now her beloved late father’s been illegally poached from his grave by a very powerful necromancer. As if that’s not enough, there's Ori, one sizzling hot freelance demon hunter who’s made himself Riley’s unofficial body guard, and Beck, a super over-protective “friend” who acts more like a grouchy granddad. With all the hassles, Riley’s almost ready to leave Atlanta altogether.
But as Atlanta’s demon count increases, the Vatican finally sends its own Demon Hunters to take care of the city’s “little” problem, and pandemonium breaks loose. Only Riley knows that she might be the center of Hell’s attention: an extremely powerful Grade 5 demon is stalking her, and her luck can't last forever…
I really enjoyed THE DEMON TRAPPERS DAUGHTER and I could not wait to get my hands on SOUL THIEF. I pretty much cried through a majority of the first book and had the tissues at hand just in case. I didnt need the tissues but the emotions through out SOUL THIEF were still real and well written in. I am so conflicted with Beck, I really like him and would not mind him and Riley being together but he really needs to grow up and be more open. He hides things and assumes he knows whats best for Riley and its beyond annoying. Ok I admit Riley needs to grow up too but if he was more open I think some situations could be avoided. Now Ori. I really really liked him and I am so disappointing in how things have turned out with him. I did not see anything that happened with him coming. I would have never guessed all that went down. Simon, Yeah I cant even begin to tell you what my feelings on Simon are without giving away spoilers but I will say he really sucks. We continue to learn more about what is really going on and why but there is still so much that we don't know and so much we need to know. SOUL THIEF ended on a tad bit of a cliffhanger so I will be counting down the days until FORGIVEN comes out Feb 28, 2012.
I gave it 3.5/5
I can't wait to read this one. I'm not reading as much YA as I used to but I'm making an excepting for this series. So Beck still hasn't smartened up, eh? DARN IT!
ReplyDeletelol no defiantly has not and it makes things worse
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great review! And no, Beck is not using his head in this book, alas. But he's starting to get a clue....
