Guest Blog & Giveaway: Darkness Rises by Dianne Duvall

Thank you for joining me!  And thank you, Stacy, for letting me visit Urban Fantasy Investigations!  I’m so excited to be here today, celebrating the release of DARKNESS RISES, the fourth book in my Immortal Guardians series.  If you’re new to my series, it features powerful immortal warriors with special gifts who spend their nights hunting and destroying insane vampires who prey upon humans. 

That’s right:  Vampires are the bad guys in my series.  And Krysta Linz, the heroine of DARKNESS RISES, has dedicated her life to slaying every one of them she can find.  Each battle costs her much, but she refuses to abandon her quest . . . even when a tall, dark, and dangerous stranger with fangs and glowing eyes saves her life.
 

Étienne d’Alençon, a two-hundred-thirty-year-old Immortal Guardian has always admired strong women.  So when he sees Krysta, a mere mortal, hold her own in battle against multiple vampires who are far faster and stronger than she is, he is utterly captivated.  Needless to say, sparks fly.  J

Now, when I’m not writing, I work in the local independent film industry.  And, as I help directors cast their feature film, short film, and music video projects, I admit I often imagine casting my own projects . . . namely film versions of my books.  With each book’s release, I rethink my dream cast, adding new characters and tweaking it here and there.  So here is my dream cast for DARKNESS RISES:

 Krysta is used to getting the drop on vampires. Her "special abilities" aren't much, but the plan is simple--she plays helpless pretty young thing to lure them in. Then her shoto swords come out and it's bye-bye, bloodsucker. Until one night she finds herself with an unexpected ally. He's a vampire, all right, but different. Mysterious. Handsome. And more interested in saving her skin than draining it.

Etienne has been an Immortal Guardian for two hundred years--long enough to know that Krysta is special. He can't stop thinking about her long legs, even more than her short swords. Then he discovers the vamps she's exterminating have friends in high places, and the Guardians are in danger too. He'll have to accept Krysta's help to save them. The stakes for a mortal are high. But the cost to his heart might be higher. . .

    My favorite PNR couple has to be Wraith and Beth from BDB, I think I would cast Jason Momoa as Wraith and ME as Beth. Oh that probably won't work but I'd love to be in her panties. Or shoes I ment shoes!!!!!

      LOL! Somehow I started this series with Zsadist's book. I still haven't read Wrath's or the other books that came earlier. I'm looking forward to going back and seeing how the series began. :-)

    I'm gonna have to say I like Dianne's picks! My fav would be Johnny Depp and Milla Jovovitch as Marcus Grayden and Ami (Amiriska), my fav couple of the series :) Thanks for sharing!

      Yay! Thanks, Erin! I'm working on Book 5 in the series now and can tell you that Marcus and Ami have some interesting scenes in it. :-)

    I love this cast!! I would love to see the d'Alençons' story in a film. Hm. But that would mean we'd see Bastien and Melanie's too... How about an Immortal Guardians trilogy? (BTW, so glad you picked Djimon Hounsou as David.)

    My favorite PNR couple was Archangel Raphael and Elena from Guild Hunter Series.
    I love this cast, they all perfect.

    Love the picks for the cast. They definitely fit to me. My favorite PNR couple is a tough one. So many great ones including Roland and Sarah. I'll go with Cat and Bones, I love them together. I could see Christina Hendricks as Cat and a dark haired Alexander Skarsgård as Bones. He has the cocky smile that fits.

    My favorite couple is Bride and Vane Kattalakis from Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunters series. I'm not real big on "casting" characters. I prefer to let my imagination come up with an image.

      I tend to be like that with book covers. I create my own image of the hero and/or heroine instead of going with the models on the cover. :-)

    Wow, all my faves have been picked so I needed to think on this awhile. So, I'm going with my most recent picks. Styxx played by a blonde Ian Sommerholder and Selena Gomez as Bethany.

    Sarah Bingham and Roland Warbrook.

    My favorite PNR couple: Valerius and Tabitha, in the Dark-Hunter series. It's was my first PNR romance and I loved it so much, they are unforgetable.

    I really love Rachel Morgan and Trent - how about Rachelle Lefevre for Rachel and Jude Law for Trent :) I really like you choices for your characters and look forward to meeting them.
