"My name is Mara, and I want desperately to become a mother."
All of my dreams were dashed when the world was promised hope but instead became a place of danger, death . . . and monsters.

Nevermores - a human, but feral and lethal creature with a thirst for flesh, have arisen from the ashes of human hope. Now co-inhabitants in this new world, I am gaining ground in my understanding of them just as I am forced to face a new threat from the local militia.

Led by a man with a taste for torture and a love of suffering, Sebastian and I are confronted with the seemingly impossible obstacle of escape. Caged and kept from our allies, our opportunities for freedom dwindle.

There is only one way to save us both. I am forced to unearth and embrace the dark side of my heart. I must decide who is the more dangerous enemy; the Nevermores or what remains of mankind.

I am bound to fight as though I am one of the monsters I hoped I’d never become.

I enjoyed SUNDERED,  but I'm sad to say that BOUND never won me over.

BOUND starts up exactly where SUNDERED left off and shortly after it's beginning Mara and Sebastian get some visitors. The military men that show up on their farm aren't the good guys and immediately Mara knows that she and her husband are in trouble.

BOUND started off strong enough, but here was my biggest issue with BOUND. I get that there is massive love between Sebastian and Mara, but every sex scene made me cringe and made me downright uncomfortable. Sebastian is now a flesh eating Nevermore for gods sake. Yes, I know that he isn't as bad as the other Nevermore's and can still think for himself, but there are bigger things going on. Also, how does Mara know that there won't be major consequences to her health or her baby? Mara had reactions to him in book one and he wasn't a full Nevermore then. I just couldn't connect with these scenes and they really didn't fit the situations they were planted in.

I honestly wouldn't normally think of picking up that last book in this series after how I felt about BOUND, but I will give it a chance since I already received the review copy from the author. Maybe it will surprise me.

I gave it 2.5/5 stars
