ReplyDeleteBook recommendation: Well, I'm actually pretty behind on my Urban Fantasy list (sigh)... but I've really enjoyed Jennifer Estep's Gin Blanco books and I'm VERY excited about Devon Monk's new book, Dead Iron.

Ricki- Thanks for stopping in, I have enjoyed the Greywalker series but haven't finished reading the last book yet, I started it and had to start something else for a review and hadn't gone back to it.
ReplyDeleteChrista- The Elemental Assassin series is one of my faves. I told Jennifer If I could she would so be my BFF. lol
Thanks Bill & Stacy.
ReplyDeleteHere are couple of UF books I'd recommend.

Bill rocks!!! Of course, so does UFI!!! HOW COULD YOU NOT HAVE SUCH WONDERFUL FOLLOWERS?!
ReplyDeleteRachel Morgan "The Hollows" Series by Kim Harrison. The first half of the first book is hard to get through because it gives a lot of background info but oh so worth it! Witches, vamps, shifters, elves, demons, faeries & the all too wonderful Jinx & his fabulous Pixie family! It's a great UF series!

Thanks Bill for the giveaway! What an awesome contest! My book recommendations would be the Elemental Assassin series by Jennifer Estep, it is an urban fantasy series. Also, I will always recommend Karen Maire Moning’s Fever Series. Some people say that book 1 a a little slow, but the series grows and gets better and better with each book.

So hard to recommend something you may not have heard about. You obviously have no problem with strong heroines considering the books you are offering in additon to the Iron Druid books.
ReplyDeleteI love the Mercy Thompson novels by Patricia Briggs, Kate Daniels novels by Ilona Andrews, Shairra West novels by Jess Haines, Gin Blanco series by Estep (but not her superhero books, the rachel Morgan series by Harrison) and both series by Rob Thurman (the Cal and Niko books feature guys).
If you like mysteries with a touch of violence and a touch of humor the Hap and Leonard books by Joe Lansdale are good and fast reads. Hap and Leonard are kind of the anti Spencer and Hawk (by Robert Parker).
I, like anonymous, enjoy the Joanne Walker books by C.E. Murphy. Also the Sazi series by Adams and Clamp, which also features more male characters and I haven't seen mentioned on the blogs.

Amazing giveaway! Hearne's Iron Druid series had me at Clan Rathskeller (the prequel). Might have to read Showalter's Playing with Fire (sounds interesting). I would recommend anything Holly Black, Tamora Pierce, or Neil Gaiman. There's Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey, Gail Carriger's Parasol Protectorate, Patrick Rothfuss's Kingkiller Chronicle, and Kim Harrison's Madison Avery trilogy. Or if your a comic/graphic novel lover try Ted Naifeh's Courtney Crumrin. Oh so many more titles.
ReplyDelete-Lynie (eamil: mergekat@charter.net)
Hmmm what can I recommend that hasn't been already mentioned... well since I'm currently reading Heartless by Gail Carriger and it seems that no one has mentioned these books yet, I would recommend the Parasol Protectorate series. It's light, it's fun, and steampunk!
