A great pace, interesting and eccentric characters, and a bit of romance is what you will find in JINN AND JUICE.

Leila spends her time belly dancing at Purgatory. She has remained a free jinn for a long while, her curse is almost up and she looks forward to being human again. She was feisty, loyal and easy to like. The romance was OK at best. Oz is a Magi and Leila is his bound Jinn so right off the bat they are in a master/slave relationship. Granted Oz is not your typical Magi and doesn't treat her like crap, but he needs Leila so he isn't willing to free her even though her curse could be permanent if he doesn't. They slowly build up a romance and respect for each other, but things are always in the way and they aren't willing to go full in. Maybe book two will find them officially a couple.

JINN AND JUICE has a great cast of secondary characters and I really loved all of Leila's friends and their loyalty towards her. The world of The Jinni could be a little more built than it was. You do get some explanations of pasts and you definitely have a good idea of everything that is involved in the world, but it didn't feel like we got everything.

JINN AND JUICE has a great cover and a great author wrote it, so it was a given that I would read it when I had the chance. My chance came, I read it and although I did enjoy JINN AND JUICE I didn't fall in love with it. I'm not saying I won't read more when future books come out, but they won't be on my must read list either. 

I gave it 3/5 stars

What can you tell my readers about yourself that they might not know from looking on your bio or reading in another interview? 

Hm... Little know fact about me: I was classically trained on piano from age six through sixteen, and sang in an a cappella group in high school.

What do you enjoy doing on your down time? 

What is this “down time” of which you speak?  LOL. ☺ I love to hang out with my family and wander around our city. San Francisco is a fun place to live.

What is your favorite part of writing? 

Immersing myself in the worlds I create and getting to know my characters.

Do you have any certain routines you must follow as you write? 

As a full-time mom, I fit in writing and other editorial work around my child’s schedule. A typical day during the school year looks like this: chauffeur child to school, exercise, write, line or content edit and/or read slush pile for an indie publisher, pick up child, spend evening with family, write a little more before bed. Rinse, repeat.

What are some of your favorite books or authors in the Urban Fantasy/ Paranormal Genres? 

I have so many favorites, including: J. R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood, Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark, Amber Belldene’s Blood Vine, and Larissa Ione’s Demonica and Lords of Deliverance. I’ve read them all more than once.

How would you pitch DIAMOND MOON to someone who has not heard of it before? 

Here’s the elevator pitch:  Human-wolf hybrid Darci wants a cure for her shifting problem not a Wolf mate, but Dominant wolf Ross intends to change her mind and capture her heart.

Can you tell us a little bit about the world that DIAMOND MOON is set in? 

Diamond Moon is set in The Black Hills of South Dakota. Much of the action happens in or around the small shifter town of Los Lobos. The Tao pack owns the area—the pack itself is fractured but on the mend, after the death of its crazed and cruel Alpha.  The Alpha’s son returns home to set things right in the first book of this multi-author series.

In my story, Dominant Wolf Ross Luparell returns to the pack to settle in the area and help build homes for homeless pack members. To his surprise and delight, he also finds his mate.

Fun facts about this world: you’ll meet a slew of great characters from the many authors writing in this shared world, and you can read the stories in any order, as they’re all stand-alone stories.

Do you have a favorite scene in DIAMOND MOON ? 

I’m quite fond of Ross and Darci’s first kiss scene. One second they’re having a nice conversation over dinner and the next they’re on the table… :-)

Which one character out of all your books was your favorite to write about? What about the hardest to write about? 

Well, all of my characters hold a piece of my heart. But I hope my wolves will forgive me if I confess a vampire is my favorite. His name is Jonas and you can meet him in my vampire series, The Tranquilli Bloodline.  An ancient vampire originally from England, Jonas embodies extreme violence in a pretty package.  He’s a man of few words, dark and moody, fiercely loyal and violently protective of those few people he loves, such as Carina, the series heroine. I adore him so much that I gave him his own short story in the series, entitled Vampire Code. You can also enjoy Jonas in action in Haven and Destiny.

The most challenging character to write about was Gee, for Diamond Moon.  Gee is a mysterious, badass Werebear bar owner living in Los Lobos. He appears in every story in the series. He was the hardest to write because he’s not my character. That said, it was super fun getting to know him for his appearance in my story.
 
What Other Projects can we look forward to reading from you? 

My urban fantasy vampire series, The Tranquilli Bloodline.  Haven, Destiny, and Vampire Code are out now, and I’m working on the fourth novel in the series, entitled Origins. Vampires, love, mayhem…

In paranormal romance, I’m working on two more stories for Decadent Pub’s Black Hills Wolves series, featuring Ross’s two siblings, a younger sister and an older brother. More Wolf goodness, action, and love…

His instincts urged him to check her for wounds, but he was a stranger and didn’t want to spook her. But goddamn, he wanted to touch her. Peel off her wet clothes. See all of her. With a jacket covering her torso, tight jeans hiding her legs, and her ball cap pulled low on her face, all he’d seen so far was her quivering pale chin, full red lips, and those delicate, trembling hands.

“S-s-sorry, d-dripping all ov-v-ver your f-f-floor,” she said, teeth chattering. Her snow white fingers curled on the hardwood, arms trembling with her effort to keep herself upright. Blood streaked the wood. A line of liquid crimson slid down her jaw and dripped from her chin onto her jacket.

To hell with propriety. “You’re injured. Let me help you.” He pulled off her cap and damn near swallowed his tongue.

Big green eyes blinked up at him from a face so pale it made him think of moonlight. Drenched, short black hair lay plastered to her head, the ends framing features reminiscent of the fairies his sister loved to draw for the hidden-object games she designed. Ethereal beauty. My beauty. He stroked a knuckle down her cheek then ran his thumb over her soft, full lower lip.

I leaned forward and gripped the top of the chair on either side of his head. “I don’t like this situation any more than you do, but I’ve never had anyone speak to me this way. I don’t form unhealthy friendships with people, but this isn’t exactly a friendship. I need a bodyguard, and neither of us seems to have any choice in the matter. So let’s just play nice, okay?”

His eyes glided down my neck and settled between my breasts. Wheeler’s pupils widened and, my God, I needed to get away from him. The closer I got, the more I picked up his heady scent. Wheeler was the opposite of the refined men in my life—powerful men with expensive clothes and imported cologne. Most were shorter or had a leaner frame than his medium build. Something began to culminate between us that I knew he must have felt, because he didn’t have a comeback. I wondered how it would feel to have those inked arms wrapped around my body, for the bristles on his face to scratch against my stomach as he laved my breast with his tongue. Would his hands feel as rough as they looked? Was he a gentle lover or animalistic?

The ropes of muscle in his arms were taut from the tight grip he had on the armrests of the chair.

Oh, no. This couldn’t be happening.

My cell phone rang and snapped me out of my fantasies. I stood up and put my hands on my hips. “I have a feeling that before this is all over, we’re going to end up killing each other.”

About the Author

This is the segment where you learn a little more about who I am, so here's what I can tell you:  I drink copious amounts of vitamin water placed precariously close to my laptop while writing. These are two healthy habits I have no intention of breaking. I'm a transplant living in the south, but I was born in the 70's to a military dad who moved us around the world.

When I'm not writing (which is all the time), I'm hunting down Indie music, watching movies, reading, eating Tex-Mex, discovering new ways to humiliate myself bowling, and burning up my laptop battery on the Internet. I have a relaxed, easy-going personality and don't like drama. I live with a cat who thinks she is a dog, or a goat (she eats plastic, so I'm not sure which).

Throughout my life, I've had insomnia. Counting sheep never worked and eventually I would imagine those sheep were the sole source of food after an apocalyptic battle where only thousands survived. I made up stories in a futile attempt to bore myself to sleep. The problem was, I got so wrapped up in my "head stories" that I would continue them through the following nights, changing it up each time to make it more exciting. Eventually, I started writing my ideas down - creating short stories, and then I discovered my love for poetry.

It's almost embarrassing how many spiral notebooks and stacks of paper I have of poetry and lyrics.

Another passion: digital art. I design all my book covers, marketing, and series art. I'm a very visual person and pursued photography as an avid hobby for many years.

I am not a YA author (I feel like I have to state this only because I've had a few people ask), but I think it's wonderful there are so many books available to teens in Urban Fantasy and Paranormal.

I am finally doing what I have always wanted to do: giving my characters a pulse through writing full time. I focus on adult urban fantasy romance, but I don't like labels and I enjoy blending genres to break out of the confines of predictability.

But it's what I love to do.

I have found that you can't go wrong with anything from Juliette Cross. I have enjoyed her characters, her writing and the great worlds that she has created for her stories.

I really liked Gen. She had a great personality, is easy to like and really stepped into her new life. Jude is a bad boy and very protective of his new charge. You can definitely feel the romantic connection between the two.

The secondary characters are just as important to the story. There is a great pace set from beginning to end. Book two has a lot to live up to!

As an heiress Aurora has grown up in the spotlight, but all she wants is to be left alone while she pursues her dreams of flying. THE APOLLO ACADEMY reminded me a little bit of BREAKING SKY. They both have flying female teens and I found that I really enjoy that type of storyline.

 I wasn't crazy about the multiple POVs, but THE APOLLO ACADEMY had great characters, a suspenseful and mystery filled storyline, a little bit of romance and nice world building. Great start to a series that I can't wait to read more of.

WINTERBORNE made my quick thought review segment because I enjoyed it so much that I immediately jumped on Amazon and bought book 2 and 3 to continue the story and now they are all in my head which makes it hard to just review book 1.

So, why did I love WINTERBORNE.. The connection between Mia and Loie. They come from different worlds, but grew up together and have a sisterly connection you can't help but be jealous of. There is a lot of different paranormal creatures introduced and you are left wondering what could come next. There's a hot and mysterious boy next door. There is plenty of action and secrets. Finally you can't help but want to go out and buy the rest of the series so you don't have to stop reading.
