Kenzie is determined to be there for her sisters no matter what it takes. Even if it means giving herself over to her fated mate, Viking Eirik Sigdir. When she ends up traveling through time to tenth century Scandinavia, she's ready for whatever comes her way. Until a chance encounter with Hel, the Goddess of Helheim, who has long loved Eirik.

Having recognized Kenzie from the moment he saw her picture in the twenty-first century, Eirik realizes the time has finally come. A secret close to the heart is about to be revealed, and the stunning red-head is the only person capable of protecting what matters most to him.

Unfortunately, Hel has already stolen Kenzie away. Now he needs to convince the goddess to give him back his bargaining chip because of a little known prophecy. One that foretells he must offer up the woman he loves as ransom to get back what has been taken from him.
Excerpt:

“We can return to the others now,” she murmured, well aware he had brought her here to make sure she was really okay. To be a sounding board if she needed one. She was doing all right though. In truth, she would just as soon stay here simply to spend time alone with him. But not if he thought he had to make her feel better the whole time. “I know your heart’s in the right place, but I don’t need coddling.”
“I know you do not.” He stroked her hair then inhaled its scent. “I just wanted to show you something…and be alone together.”
Glad they were on the same page, she inhaled his scent just as deeply, amazed by how much she was into him. Thrilled by the sensation. Addicted to it almost. She had never wanted to be in a man’s arms so much. Against him. Touching him.
“Come,” he whispered before he pulled her after him along the river to a stream that branched off and ran beneath a thick intricately carved stone archway.
“That definitely looks manmade,” she remarked, caught by the stunning beauty of the area. Moss caked rocks lined the stream and delicate roots from sparkling silver trees draped down into the water as if long, enchanted hair caught in the moonlight. It was all so eye-catching, she found herself walking forward without much thought as to where she was going.
“Why does this place look so familiar?” she whispered, smiling as she saw the entranceway between the roots to a dark but tempting pool of water directly beneath the archway. “It’s a whirlpool of sorts, isn’t it?”
“Yes,” he said, joining her. “Though this stream is one of many in the area, this location seems more caught up in the Realm’s oddities.”
“What do you mean?” she murmured, eying a small but lush bed of green grass nestled beside the whirlpool. Before he could respond, her eyes were drawn specifically to the compelling swirl of water, and she suddenly understood. “The water’s different here isn’t it?”
“Yes,” he replied. “Like a few bodies of water in the Realm, it goes against the laws of gravity, but there is even more to it…”
“My God,” she whispered, interrupting him as she figured it out. She began removing her clothes, compelled to go in. To be part of all this. “It flows both upstream and downstream at the same time.”
Yet she knew he had been about to say even more. That he was going to speak of the inherent magic of this place. Because its pure enchantment was undeniable.
“It does flow both ways,” he confirmed, as he began undressing as well.
Her gaze remained locked on the whirlpool as she waded in. It drew her in a way that brought unexplainable joy to her heart. Oh, how she wanted to immerse herself in it.
Remember it.
“That makes no sense,” she murmured. “Why would I want to remember it when I’ve never been here before?” She stopped and glanced over her shoulder at Eirik, suddenly certain this place was more than familiar to him and not because he had visited it lately. “It makes sense to you though, doesn’t it?”
“It does,” he confirmed, his eyes never leaving hers. “It did the moment I first discovered it.”
A delicious, life-altering sort of chill washed over her as their eyes held. “Why?” She swept her eyes over the area then looked at him again. “What does this place have to do with us, Eirik?”
“Everything,” he said softly, pulling off the last of his clothes before he joined her. “It has to considering this is where we were the first time I dreamt of you years ago.”

Review: Devil Forget Me by Karilyn Bentley (@KarilynBentley1, @WildRosePress)

Devil Forget Me
Release Date: April 1, 2019
Publisher: The Wild Rose Press, Inc
ASIN:  B07P2NG13X
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Review Copy Source: Author

What appears to be a simple crime, unmasks a chilling deception...

Gin Crawford, the world's newest demon huntress, kills two minions who are breaking into a financial adviser's office. But what she thinks of as another night in the life of a demon huntress leads to a cover-up of epic proportions. A demon haunts her employer, the Agency, and only she can stop it.

Aidan Smythe, her guardian mage and lover, along with her brother T, and the healer Eloise, join her search in discovering the demon's identity. A search thwarted by a powerful spell.

Breaking the spell requires her to join forces with Zagan, the demon of deceit, the demon who marked her as his. But working together comes with a price. One Gin is not sure she can pay.

It has been a long ride for the emergency room nurse turned Demon huntress Gin Crawford. Her life was turned upside down in DEMON LORE and a lot has happened since then. DEVIL FORGET ME wraps up the Demon Huntress series with the answers and conclusions we have been waiting for.

Following in the footsteps of the previous books, DEVIL FORGET ME has plenty of action and danger in the storyline. I enjoyed the steps that were taken to finally be able to root out the demon behind the corruption inside the Agency.

If you read my review from book 4, DEVIL TAKE ME, you know that I was having issues with liking Aidan again. I DO like him, but I can't say that it's as much as before the end of book 3. I don't feel like you can easily come back from his actions and I don't think he really had enough time to show me that it wouldn't happen again—in fact, it was proven that it has happened in a previous relationship. I can be happy for Gin and Aidan as a couple, but I wasn't gaga over them.

T and Eloise are super cute together. I have enjoyed getting to know them individually as well as watching their relationship form. The mystery that has been Zagan has officially been completely revealed by the end of DEVIL FORGET ME.

The series definitely felt complete after the final words were read. I was happy with how things concluded.

I gave it 4/5 stars

Interview + Giveaway: Tudor Rose by W.H. Doyle (@RoxanneRhoads, @Month9Books)

UFI welcomes Author W.H. Doyle. Thanks for Joining us!!

What can you tell my readers about yourself that they might not know from looking on your bio or reading in another interview?

Oh, I wish I had something truly exotic to share. Reading over my bio now I see that I left my husband out of it…so I guess many people wouldn’t know that I’ve been in a relationship for 25 years. Which is wild especially because the way we started out: He walked up to me on the street and stopped me. We had no friends, or much else, in common and somehow our differences just kind of filled in the gaps we both had.

What do you enjoy doing on your down time?

I love the gym. I’m kind of a gym rat. There, I said it. I love getting sweaty and feeling the sore the next day. My livelihood depends on me sitting on my butt nearly all day, so any chance I have to get up and get my blood going, I’ll take.

What is your Favorite part of writing?

That moment when you don’t even realize you’re writing anymore. All the strain and all the effort have faded away and you’re just in the flow.

Do you have any certain routines you must follow as you write?

I think routines are luxuries that I can’t really afford. This past year, I sold a place in New Hampshire, moved from New York City to San Francisco—and then back, had a couple family members pass away, nursed my husband back to health after he had a fourteen hour back surgery—and I still managed to write three books. I grab moments and chunks of time to write wherever I can get them!

What are some of your Favorite books or Authors in the Urban Fantasy/ Paranormal Genres?

Karen Marie Moning, Neil Gaiman, and Jim Butcher.

How would you pitch Tudor Rose to someone who has not heard of it before?

In the late 1500s, three powerful young women vie for the attention of Elizabeth I as they battle each other to win the Queen’s Challenge—who can produce the kingdom’s most spectacular gala.

Can you tell us a little bit about the world that Tudor Rose is set in?

The court of Queen Elizabeth I as seen through the eyes of three incredible teenaged girls.

Do you have a favorite scene in Tudor Rose?

Hell yes, I do. It’s when two of the girls arrive from their dreary country village to the glorious riches of palace life—so relieved and excited!—only to discover that they have just entered a den of vipers.

Which one character out of all your books was your favorite to write about? What about the hardest to write about?

Is it fair if I give the same answer to both questions? I have a six-book historical fiction series that spans about 90 years, and one of the main characters is in every book. While she was the hardest to write about because I had to research all the things she would be eating, wearing, seeing and doing at various times—she was also the easiest because all that research created a kind of scaffolding that allowed me to focus on her more interesting character traits as she evolved over the decades.

What Other Projects can we look forward to reading from you?

Tudor Rose #2! Plus, I just launched a new series with Random House called Escape This Book! The first book is an Amazon Best Book for March, a PW Bestseller, and every Barnes and Noble store nationwide held an event on March 23 to celebrate its launch. As with all of my books, I’m very proud of it!

In 16th-century England, two teenage best friends find themselves on an exciting journey from the country to the Queen’s court in the hope of being named ladies-in-waiting. But Sybille and Rose soon discover they aren’t the only girls who have their sights set on attending Her Majesty. The girls must compete against worldly and cunning opponents, among them mean-girl Avis and her entourage of back-stabbing co-horts, tipping the balance in their already-tenuous friendship.

Soon, the grand hall is more like the hallway of a prestigious finishing school, with girls fighting for the attention of a dashing, young earl, amid parties fueled by drinking and indiscriminate relations. As the tension between Sybille and Avis heats up, the focus on Rose wanes, allowing her to turn her attention to more important matters – like getting close enough to the Queen to learn her secrets.

But being close to the Queen is not without its challenges. And when rumors of Rose’s influence make their way around the castle, no one, not even the Queen, will be safe.
Excerpt:

They were gorgeous, even as they sneered and giggled and pointed at Rose and Sybille. Unblemished faces, perfectly coiffed hair, and the most fashionable clothes. The men had trimmed goatees, starched linen ruffs, and wide shoulders that tapered sexily to narrow hips. The women’s painted eyes and lips were framed by long hair banded by strips of jewels. Their gowns—so different than the old-fashioned ones of Gordonsrod—had low, square-cut necklines and a framework that pushed out the dress around the buttocks, emphasizing their figures.

It was everything that Sybille had always wanted. But not like this. Humiliation drove into her like a punch as the stuff of her dreams reconfigured into her worst nightmare.

Review: Ruins of Fate by Jamie A. Waters (@jawatersbooks)

Ruins of Fate
Release Date: April 4, 2019
Publisher: Self-Published
The Omni Towers Book #0.1
ASIN:   B07P9MRZJK
Genre: Fantasy
Review Copy Source: NetGalley

One wrong decision, and the future will crumble…

Skye Levanthe traded everything she owned in order to secure a place for herself and her son, Veridian, in a scavenging camp.

But all contracts have an expiration date.

Desperate to obtain the resources they need to survive, Skye agreed to navigate the dangerous ruins of fallen cities to search for tradeable materials. When a strange storm forced Skye and her scavenging partner into forbidden territory controlled by The Omni Towers, a ruin collapsed, nearly taking their lives and destroying countless others.

Only one other person survived the ruin collapse: a mysterious young girl named Kayla.

Faced with the decision to save her son or abandon her new foster daughter to a terrible fate, Skye agreed to the only possible course of action—to go into exile and take on the Omni traders in their own den.

No one ever said survival would be easy.

And every choice has consequences.

I liked RUINS OF FATE so much that I grabbed myself a copy of book one of the series and then the rest of the series after that.

The Omni Towers series is an established series with RUINS OF FATE giving everyone a glimpse of the character's pasts. I went into ROF with a blank slate having never read the series and I had no trouble getting into the storyline. I enjoyed meeting Skye, Kayla, Leo and Veridian and witnessing the start of their story together.

I enjoyed both the world and learning about the events that made the world what it was. After RUINS OF FATE was over I wanted to know what would happen next for the characters, so I immediately grabbed a copy of BENEATH THE FALLEN CITY. I wasn't disappointing.

I gave it 4/5 stars
