UFI welcomes D.F. Krieger Author of Panthers and Precincts. Thanks for Joining us!!

Teenage Garage Sale

Imagine, if you will, driving gravel roads to a sprawling farm in a small, backwoods town. The location is somewhere in the southern tip of Illinois. The summer heat leaves a trickle of sweat that smothers your skin, but the words Garage Sale force you to pull into the driveway of a farm house. Welcome to my home as a child and throughout my teenage years. Before you start perusing goods, let me inform you that everything listed has a special place eternally in my heart, and in truth, none of it would ever have been up for sale at an event like this. Now that you know you can look, but never buy, shall we continue?

An old car sits to the side with a new interior and virtually no rust spots. The car, a 1983 AMC Eagle Sedan, is my vehicular pride and joy. Four wheel drive and a sturdiness only 80's cars can give makes this my constant companion. Don't tell my parents, but it also is a great mudding car. How much did I buy it for? Only $800. Well, if you don't count the fact that transmission fell out of the car on the way home from the sale. That cost another thousand to replace.

Oh, you've noticed the cats by now? Every one of them has a name. The Russian Blue in my lap is Thea. The black and silver stripe is her brother, Tye. The blue-eyed Siamese is named Fester due to my family's love of the Addam's Family. And the brown tabby? He's a rescue I brought home from work. His name is Foster and he came to us with a gash down his back from a coyote trying to eat him. No, you can't adopt any! These guys are priceless and I love every one of them.

Show you something you can buy? Uh... Well, we don't have much here. Could I interest you in a cow? Out of that herd you can see, three of them are mine. My step-dad struck a deal with me. Every time a calf loses its mom, I can bottle feed it. If it survives, it goes into my herd. I love them, and they have names, but I really need to fix my car again. I guess I could part with all three for a thousand? You don't have anywhere to keep a cow? Wow. City folk must be so lonely.

What do you mean we don't have anything? We have plenty of things. I have a whole bookshelf filled with Pier's Anthony books from his Xanth series. And...and... Well, I have cows and you don’t. There's nothing like an armful of cow hug when life's got you down.

Okay, so we didn't have much growing up. My family and raising revolved around running the farm and school. Yet, I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. I didn't have a cushy life as a teenager, but I know how to cook, sew, help a cow in labor, clean a wound from barb wire, and shake it off when I get zapped by an electric fence. If you want a garage sale you can actually buy from, you might want to drive an hour or so in either direction to the nearest real city.

Thanks for visiting! ~ D. F. Krieger

Faxfire #1

Meet Zeara—zoologist, crime solver, and crazy cat lady. Throw a literate panther and a sexy detective into the mix and watch the trouble ensue.

People didn't just happen to "drop by for a visit" at midnight. Whoever was on the other side of that door either had a good reason, one that she probably didn't want to hear, or would wish they had once she finished tearing them apart.

Dr. Zeara Faxfire and her side-kick cat, Magic, are on the case when a panther is discovered during a police investigation of a missing boy. The fact the panther can write is only slightly scarier than Zeara's attraction to Detective Markovich. Add a little magic, some mayhem, and scientific proof of the paranormal, and she ends up knee-deep in trouble. Can she find the missing boy, solve the riddle of the panther, and face her own past before time runs out? Or will the only way to give everyone a happy ending come at the expense of the job she loves?

Review: Avenger's Heat by Katie Reus

Avenger's Heat
Author:Katie Reus
Release Date: February 4, 2014
Publisher: Signet
Moon Shifters Book #4
ISBN:  045141795X
ISBN13: 9780451417954
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Review Copy Source: Publisher

To truly have her, he must free her from her dark secret…

Enforcer Erin Flynn has dedicated her life to protecting her kind. But keeping her heart safe from Noah Campbell, the smoking-hot shifter who saved her life last year, is more difficult. The deadly beauty would love to sink into his arms and become his mate, but she knows she can’t—he must never know about her dark past.

When Erin is sent to investigate the disappearances of pregnant shifters in New Orleans, Erin and Noah find themselves involved in a mystery more sinister than anyone expected. And as Erin delves further into the crimes, chilling information about her own past is revealed. The people who wanted her dead in the first place are trying to finish the job, and Noah wants nothing more than to shield her from harm. But can Erin truly trust Noah and let him see the wounded beast she’s hidden for so long?

With AVENGER'S HEAT we get kinda a two for one deal in regards to couples. There is the main story that involves Erin and Noah then the smaller secondary story that involves Brianna and Angelo. Erin and Noah take the spotlight but I enjoyed learning a little more about Brianna and the start of her relationship with Angelo.

I would be lying if I said I was never interested in hearing what happened to Erin. I never imagined her story was as much as it ended up being and my heart absolutely broke for her as I learned the extent of her past. Noah comes off as pretty carefree and trouble-free but he is anything but. I absolutely loved meeting his family and home pack and learning his family dynamics. The crimes that Erin and Noah were sent to investigate gets pretty heated and intense. Erin in action is something to behold and the two working together was even better. I can say that I am truly happy that Erin and Noah found each other.

The world of the Moon Shifters continues to grow with each book. I enjoyed the setting being apart from the rest of the pack but I missed them all the same. I was originally really sad after book 1 when I found out each book would feature a new couple but it has worked out nicely and I have fallen in love with each and every one of them. Bring on couple # 5..

I gave it 4/5 stars

We’re kicking off the month-long celebration with three new Brazens, each with a smoking hot military man front and center and each for just 99 cents!

Marine for Hire, by Tawna Fenske

She thought she’d sworn off military men for good…
Sam Kercher is every inch a wickedly hot Marine. Tall. Sexy. Lethal. When his best friends call in a favor, Sam is forced to face an entirely new line of duty—playing nanny for their newly divorced sister and her squirming seven-month-old twin boys. If Sam can dissemble an M16 in his sleep, diaper duty should be a cakewalk…right?
Unfortunately, Operation Nanny isn’t quite that simple. Sheridan has sworn off overbearing military men, so Sam must protect her from her dirtbag ex without revealing just how much he has in common with her brothers. Or that he’s been ordered not to touch her. Ever. Problem is, Sheri’s one hell of a gorgeous woman, capable of making this hard-bodied Marine even harder. And Sam wants her bad.
Protect the girl. Care for the babies. Hide his identity. And keep his hands off. But even the most disciplined Marine has weaknesses...and Sheridan is one Sam might not be able to resist.

Staking His Claim, by Tessa Bailey

He wants her. All of her.

NYPD sniper Matt Donovan is in Hell. Instead of driving his best friend’s little sister home from college, he’s stuck with her roommate—a fresh-faced ray-of-sunshine with a body that makes grown men weep. There’s no way he’ll allow himself to taint the little vixen, no matter how hard she tries to tempt him, so he resigns himself to the longest—and hardest—drive of his life.
Matt’s obvious attraction suits grad student Lucy Mason just fine. She had no idea her brother’s best friend was so deliciously hot. Knowing he’d never have his wicked way with his buddy’s sister, she lies about her identity and seduces him. But Matt’s no fumbling college boy. His desires run deep—and dark—and he wants to teach Lucy what wicked really means.
Matt’s demanding appetites only make Lucy want more. But when her cover's blown, he’s furious—even as his hunger for her becomes insatiable. Matt can’t trust anyone, least of all himself. And he knows all too well that darkness always destroys the light…

Temporarily Yours, by Jen McLaughlin, writing as Diane Alberts

This soldier’s the perfect hoax…if she doesn’t fall for him first.

Stats whiz Kayla Moriarity knows her way around numbers and algorithms. Men, on the other hand, are unsolvable equations. Now Kayla’s en route to her sister’s wedding—without the fictional boyfriend she invented for her family. Fortunately, her plane comes complete with complimentary cocktails and a ridiculously hot ex-marine in the seat beside her. And that’s all it takes for Kayla’s inhibitions to go sailing out the airlock...
Cooper Shillings has soft spot for people in trouble, but he certainly wasn’t expecting to land in it himself—and definitely not while getting naughty mid-air with a sexy southern belle. When he hears Kayla’s predicament, however, he offers his services as a stand-in boyfriend. After all, he’s heading overseas soon...and how could he refuse a little no-strings wickedness?
It’s the perfect plan. And all Kayla has to do is ensure her family falls for the ultimate bluff, without falling for it—and Cooper—in the process...

We appreciate you and want readers to be able to fill up their eReaders all month long with great books at introductory prices. Thank you for an amazing first three years. This is just the beginning.

~The Entangled ‘Love’ Team

Promo: Raven's Kill by Ella Grey

Excerpt:

Her moans had echoed all over the mansion. Raven had even heard them from his place on the roof; he'd shifted long enough to enter from the skylight before taking his human form again and headed to investigate. No lights highlighted the dark corridors but it wasn't a problem. The dog remained silent in the kitchen, a terrible guard. The moans made him rock hard, she was the only one in the house which left one very interesting possibility.

It didn't take long to find her room, the door slightly ajar and he pushed it open a little more. Cassandra writhed on the bed, one hand between her legs and the other on her chest. He watched her come undone and knew he could do it better. He wanted her to fall apart with his tongue lapping at her juices, sucking and teasing her until she called out his name. He quite liked the fantasy and missed her eyes opening, resting on him. Her scream ripped through the air.

Well, what did you expect? That she'd pull you into her arms and you could finally find out what her lips taste like?

Raven darted from his place in the doorway and pressed his hand across her mouth. "I won't hurt you." The words left him in a rush but she fought against him. "Cassandra, I don't intend to hurt you. Listen to me. Please listen to me." She slowly stopped fighting but her eyes were wide, her breathing fast. "I'm going to remove my hand. Don't scream or I'll be forced have to put my hand over your mouth again."

For the first time in his life, he didn't know what he was doing. The smell of her desire, mixed with the vanilla perfume that seemed embedded into her skin, filled the air and it was distracting as hell. "Trust me?"

It was asking a lot and he knew it but she finally nodded. The impression of her lips against his hand felt like a burn, as if the brief touch left a scar against his skin.

"Please don't hurt me."

Her words made him angry but not at her, he didn't want her to be scared of him. "I already said I won't."

Cassandra moved away from him, turning to face him. She nibbled at her bottom lip, her fingers twisted together. "What do you want?"

Raven is a shifter with the ability to see the darkness in a person's soul. He has never strayed off his path or let a target live before, until he meets Cassandra for the first time. She's an innocent, so why does someone want her dead?

As soon as she laid eyes on the mysterious man, she wants him with an intensity that scares her. When he appears in her room one night with an impossible story, she doesn't have a choice, believe him or die when someone else takes the job he's refused.

It's a fight against time and an attraction that scares them both, no-one knows what the future holds. Even a fledgling seer.

Wicked Satyr Night
Cursed Satyroi #1

Some creatures want to be found.

When Dr. Katerina Silverton travels into the Pine Barrens to make a documentary on the Jersey Devil, she doesn't believe she will uncover any supernatural evidence. In fact, she only takes the job because it promises funding for future projects. So it is quite a shock to Kat when she finds herself face-to-face with the legendary beast she was sent into the forest to capture on film.

In ancient Greece, the god Pan made a terrible mistake which resulted in the creation of the Satyroi: a race of immortal satyrs. Centuries later, he lives secluded in the Pine Barrens, frightening mortals by taking the guise of an abhorrent local monster. When a beautiful woman shows up in his forest looking for proof of his existence, Pan can't resist revealing himself to her.

Outside forces may be manipulating them both, pushing them together for nefarious reasons. Kat must decide if she could learn to love a satyr or if his appearance is more than she can handle. Can she resist Pan's wicked nature, or will she give into the temptations beyond her wildest fantasies?

Excerpt:

Kat groaned as the sunlight caressed her eyelids. Mornings sucked. She opened her eyes and the events from the previous night clicked back into her memory. Peter was sitting on top of the chest of drawers, and his hands were resting against the wood edge of the piece of furniture visible between his open, denim-clad thighs. He arched a brow and smirked as he watched her become aware of him.

"It wasn't a nightmare, was it?" Her fear wasn't with her anymore. Instead, she felt the pull of sadness gripping her heartstrings. What would to happen to her? Cindy and Rick must be freaking out.

"I'm 'fraid not, vixen. I owe you explanations, and now that you slept off your denial and panic, you might be able to handle it." He snorted. "You know the word 'panic' is derived from the god Pan's enjoyment of hiding in bushes and startling trespassers as they wandered through the Arcadian forests?"

Ugh, Greek gods again? She didn't know why he found his comment so amusing, so she didn't comment on that part of his statement. "Vixen?"

Peter let out a great sigh, probably because she wasn't biting at his baited hook. "Your hair and your spirit. Reminds me of a fox because of the color and your cunningness..." He scrunched his nose up. "Is cunningness a word? Anyway, you're also a female, ergo, vixen." He pushed himself off the chest of drawers, the muscles in his arms flexing as he did so, and onto the floor. He landed lightly on his bare feet—the toed variety, not the hoofed ones. He was dressed the same as the night before. He'd lost the shirt, though, and sported just the jeans. If he was attempting to turn her on with those scrumptious abs and the thick, corded muscle that led into the waistband of his jeans, she was deeply ashamed it was kind of working.

As strange as the whole situation was, her body still reacted to his. Not as strongly as it had the first time, but the arousal was there, beneath the surface. Too afraid to notice it the night before, it had reared its head once more. She worried about her reaction to him as it couldn't be natural, yet it felt like it was.

Peter held a hand out to her, and she warily accepted it. He pulled her to her feet and led her into the hall. Kat half expected human hands holding elaborate candelabras to extend from the walls, moving as they passed, like in the movie version of The Phantom of the Opera. Except Peter would turn around, half demon-faced, and proclaim he was the devil of New Jersey rather than the Opera Ghost.
