Genre: Paranormal Romance

Jolie thinks she’s seen it all, but life continues to spring surprises. The latest shocker? She’s just been crowned Queen of the Underworld. Jolie may possess a rare gift for reanimating the dead, but she doesn’t know the first thing about governing disparate factions of supernatural creatures. She can barely maintain order in her own chaotic personal life, which is heading into a romantic tailspin.

First there’s sexy warlock Rand, the love of her life, from whom Jolie is hiding a devastating secret. Then there’s Sinjin, a darkly seductive vampire and Jolie’s sworn protector—though others suspect he harbors ulterior motives. As the two polar opposite yet magnetic men vie for Jolie’s affection, she must keep her wits about her to balance affairs of state and affairs of her heart. Overwhelmed, under pressure, and longing for love, Jolie decides it’s time to take charge—and show everyone that this queen won’t take jack.
WITCHFUL THINKING left me feeling confused. I was enjoying how it started out then bam we are in the future and know nothing about the past. The past is slowly revealed to teach us what has happened up until the point we are at and then at the end its bam again and we are in the past before the past. Are you confused yet? Yeah me to.

I have to say my favorite character was Sinjin. He is a vampire that is in love with Jolie and wants to protect her, or at least that was what I got out of his character. Rand is a warlock and the person that Jolie loves, he is super broody and refuses to stick with one emotion for longer then a minute. Just when they BOTH decide that they want to be together and are about to stick with the decision stuff happens that throws that out the window. Jolie was super indecisive. She has no clue what she wants out of the situation she is in. I really never connected with her character and I wish the book wouldn't have jumped to the future as I think those years leading up would have made me understand her more and unfortunately I didn't see that this was book 3 in the series until after I won it and read it or else I would have seen that the back story is in the previous 2 books that are offered as ebooks published by the author. All in all I just never connected with the story and had to force myself to read through most of it.

So my advice? Although I think you could start with book 3 WITCHFUL THINKING, you might be as lost as me so I would recommend you read book 1 and 2 first.

I gave it 2/5 stars

Review: To Walk the Night by E.S. Moore

To Walk the Night
Author:E.S Moore
Release Date: January 3, 2012
Publisher: Kensington
Kat Redding Book #1
ISBN:   0758268726
ISBN13: 9780758268723
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Even a vampire has to face her inner demons…

Kat Redding is the very thing she hunts: a vampire, thirsting for blood, capable of killing any creature unlucky enough to get in her path. The difference is, Kat kills her own kind in order to protect human Purebloods. She’s good at what she does. Good enough to earn the nickname Lady Death—and the enmity of every bloodthirsty being around. But now a vampire Count is intent on merging his House with a werewolf cult to create a force of terrifying power.

Kat can’t allow that to happen. Even if it means taking on a den of weres and a vampire more ruthless than any she’s encountered before. She has the weapons, the skill, and a few allies. But that may not be enough to eliminate the Count before her own dark nature rises to the surface—and costs her whatever is left of her humanity…

I enjoyed Kat. I liked her Attitude. I like that even though she was turned she still fights to keep humans safe from the Vampires and Weres. I like her loyalty to her friend and roommate. I also really loved the image of her that was depicted on the cover of the book, It completely matched how I would picture her in my mind.

There were a few slow parts in TO WALK THE NIGHT but the overall flow was nice. There is no romance which I didn't like nor dislike. I would like to see how she would handle something like that in the future but I enjoyed getting to know Kat without that. There was tons of action throughout the book and the world that Moore built was intriguing. I think any Urban Fantasy lover will enjoy TO WALK THE NIGHT.

I gave it 3.5/5 stars

Review: Third Grave Dead Ahead by Darynda Jones

Third Grave Dead Ahead
Author: Darynda Jones
Release Date: January 31, 2012
Publisher: St. Martins Press
Charley Davidson Book #3
ISBN:   1250001544
ISBN13: 9781250001542
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Charley Davidson—grim reaper extraordinaire, private investigator . . . meh—is practicing her profession under the influence, caffeine and copious amounts of it, due to an extreme desire to induce insomnia. Every time she closes her eyes, Reyes Farrow, the part-human, part-supermodel son of Satan, is there. Only thing is, he’s a tad peeved. She did bind him for all eternity, so it’s hard blame him. But 13 days without a wink is bound to bring out the crazy in a girl. So, when a man hires her to find his wife, Charley accepts the job with one goal in mind: Put the man behind bars, and not the wet kind. She can sense the guilt waft off him and vows to find the woman’s body and prove he’s a murderer.

In the meantime, Reyes is back in prison and none too happy about it . . . so Charley thinks, until she is carjacked by the dark-haired rake, who swears the very man he went to prison for killing is not only alive, but close by. And he wants Charley to find him.

While a visit to her old friend Rocket sheds no light on Reyes’s situation, Charley finds out the man’s wife is still alive and time is running out. Finding her before she dies would be a miracle, but she has to try. Together with the help of a fashion-impaired receptionist named Cookie, Charley sets out to bring the bad guys to justice. She just hopes Reyes is not one of them. And that she’s not hallucinating from her self-induced bout with insomnia.
I can not get enough of Charley Davidson and her crew. By the end of the book, I laughed, I cried, I laughed until I cried, and I can not think of one thing I don't like about this series. MY GOODNESS the emotions that Darynda is able to bring forth are fantastic. It has quickly become a must have on my book shelf.

Charley is beyond hilarious. She could be in the most dire situation and still make a smart ass comment about something. Charley and Reyes' chemistry has always been off the wall but we see an unflattering side of Reyes in book 3. They have so much to work through but I hope that they are able to come back together after the events that happen in THIRD GRAVE DEAD AHEAD. I absolutely enjoy every single character in this series.  Garrett has quickly climbed up the ladder on my faves list. He is a pain in the ass but I cant imagine him not being a part of Charley's life and their bickering helps keep me doubly entertained. We got a lot of information revealed to us and Charley had a rougher time then in previous installments this go round. By the end of the book she is feeling betrayed, depressed and all around pissed off at the male species.  I cant begin to guess what will come next for Charley but you can bet I will be the first in the pre-order line to find out.

I cant imagine anyone not loving this series. If you have not started it yet I must say you are missing out on when of the best series out there.
