Early Review: Tyger Tyger by Kersten Hamilton

Tyger Tyger
Release Date: November 15, 2010
Publisher: Clarion Books
Goblin Wars Book #1
ISBN: #9780547330082
Genre: YA
Review Copy Source: Netgalley.com
Teagan Wylltson's best friend, Abby, dreams that horrifying creatures--goblins, shape-shifters, and beings of unearthly beauty but terrible cruelty--are hunting Teagan. Abby is always coming up with crazy stuff, though, so Teagan isn't worried. Her life isn't in danger. In fact, it's perfect. She's on track for a college scholarship. She has a great job. She's focused on school, work, and her future. No boys, no heartaches, no problems.

Until Finn Mac Cumhaill arrives. Finn's a bit on the unearthly beautiful side himself. He has a killer accent and a knee-weakening smile. And either he's crazy or he's been haunting Abby's dreams, because he's talking about goblins, too . . . and about being The Mac Cumhaill, born to fight all goblin-kind. Finn knows a thing or two about fighting. Which is a very good thing, because this time, Abby's right.

The goblins are coming.

From the moment my eyes met the first page I was attached to the story. The Characters are all wonderful to follow. There is plenty of action throughout the book that kept me wanting to read more and more, I couldn’t wait to find out what would come next. I loved the Mythology and the way that it plays into the story. It was wonderful to read the great relationship between Teagan and her brother Aiden, and I hope there will be another book so we can get some more into Teagan and Finn.

I give it 4/5 Stars

Review: Firewalker by Allyson James

Firewalker

Publisher: Berkley Sensation
Stormwalker Book #2
ISBN: #9780425237823
Genre:Paranormal Romance
Mick must face the dragon council for breaking their laws, and while he doesn't seem too worried about his upcoming trial, but Janet will do anything to keep him safe. She'll need a little help from her friends, old and new: Nash and Coyote; Cassandra, a powerful witch turned hotel manager; Colby a sort-of-trustworthy dragon. But now a new, dark power is stirring in Magellan that Janet must face, but even more frightening, one is stirring within herself.

Janet has to deal with the emergence of her powerful Beneath magic that wants to turn her bad, murders taking place by a powerful being,  the Dragons and Micks Trial for allowing her to open a vortex and letting her live. We get to meet a new god the Koshare's who are like clowns with making people laugh and also provide mild punishment on bad behavior with jokes. Janet and Micks chemistry is fantastic. Nash is still a big pain in the butt but he really comes through in this book as being loyal and trustworthy. Coyote is as cryptic as ever and still very mysterious. If you liked book 1 Stormwalker, you should defiantly continue with Firewalker.

I give it 3.5/5 Stars

Blood is thicker than ink.
There is a reason we fear the night…
As Savannah's most unconventional tattoo artist, Riley Poe is quite familiar with the local underground scene. She lives and works on the edge of it every day.
Now, she's about to step over the edge.
When her younger brother is taken by a sinister cult led by centuries-old vampires, Riley discovers a world of shadows and blood--and those who exist there.
Her ally is the hot-tempered vampire Eli Dupre, who is attracted both to Riley's beauty as well as her one-of-a-kind blood type. A blood type he is not alone in craving.
To save her brother from certain un-death, Riley will face dangers she's never dreamed of, ruthless bloodthirsty enemies, and an evil of endless hunger that wants to devour all in its vile grasp.

I can seriously say very few words to describe how much I LOVED Afterlight. I CAN NOT WAIT FOR EVERDARK!!! I could Not put down Afterlight it was absolutely fantastic. Riley is a fun, sexy, tattoo artist and I loved her character from the beginning. Eli brought in a dark, mysterious bad boy persona to the book that fit great with Riley. Elle Jasper's Debut novel will leave you longing for more!! A MUST read.

Review: Marked By the Moon By Lori Handeland

Marked By the Moon
Release Date: November 2, 2010
Publisher: St. Martin's Press
ISBN: #9780312389345
Genre:Paranormal Romance
Review Copy Source: Author, for consideration by my book club
Julian Barlow was once a Viking. Then he watched his brother fall in battle, shouted his fury to the heavens and changed. He became the berserker of legend, a warrior who, in the heat of combat, transforms into a wolf.
Centuries later, he's settled into his own Alaskan village full of werewolves; he has a wife he adores. Until Alexandra Trevalyn, werewolf hunter, kills her. Dying is too easy for the woman who murdered his wife, so Julian devises a better way for Alex to suffer.
He'll make her just like him.

Alex and Julian weren't only awesome characters they were hilarious to read. They kept me guessing throughout most of the book except the ending was pretty predictable. The setting was great, I liked where and how they lived. I also liked that you don't have to read all the previous Nightcreature books to get the story as I hadnt started this series yet when I received an ARC. All in all a good read.

I give it 4/5 Stars

Review: Magic at the Gate By Devon Monk

Magic at the Gate
Author: Devon Monk
Release Date: November 2, 2010
Publisher: ROC Fantasy
ISBN: #978-0451463623
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Allie Beckstrom's lover, Zayvion Jones, is a Guardian of the Gate, imbued with both light and dark magic and responsible for ensuring that those energies don't mix. But Zayvion lies in a coma, his soul trapped in death's realm. And when Allie discovers that the only way to save Zayvion is to sacrifice her very own magical essence, she makes a decision that may have grave consequences for the entire world.

I thought this was a fantastic continuation of Allie Beckstrom's world. She has to sacrifice a big part of herself in this book and I can not wait to see what comes of that sacrifice (I'm actually hoping she will get her sacrifice back I just cant see her without it). Allie's Dad is also continuing to cause issues by using her and I still cant figure out what exactly he is trying to do but we got a few more facts on all her memory issues that were nice to know. The ending of course was left open to continue into the next story and the little sneak peak of Book #6 Magic on the Hunt left me wanting to continue the series.
