On the evening of Sofia Claremont's seventeenth birthday, she is sucked into a nightmare from which she cannot wake.
A quiet evening walk along a beach brings her face to face with a dangerous pale creature that craves much more than her blood.
She is kidnapped to an island where the sun is eternally forbidden to shine.
An island uncharted by any map and ruled by the most powerful vampire coven on the planet. She wakes here as a slave, a captive in chains.
Sofia's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she is the one selected out of hundreds of girls to join the harem of Derek Novak, the dark royal Prince.
Despite his addiction to power and obsessive thirst for her blood, Sofia soon realizes that the safest place on the island is within his quarters, and she must do all within her power to win him over if she is to survive even one more night.
Will she succeed? ...or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have met at the hands of the Novaks?
For a shorter novel A SHADE OF VAMPIRE was surprisingly informative and well-paced. Of course there were a few things that could have been taking a little slower or some development that could have worked better if it was spread out a little but it wasn't a big deal for it to happen a little faster. There are two different points of view. Sofia is kidnapped on her 17th birthday by a pompous ass of a vampire who takes her to be part of his brother's harem; unfortunately he also wants Sofia for himself. Derek has been asleep for a very long time. He is nothing like the other vampires and he and Sofia have a pretty instant connection. Their romance is slow, sweet and pretty dangerous. The ending was a bit flat for me but then again I still want to read more so what can I say.
I'm not really sure how many books will be in this series but the story definitely doesn't feel over.
I gave it 3.5/5 stars
