Sometimes I read a book where I just don't have a lot to say about it.
Hence the name quick thought reviews. These will be short and sweet.

Deliver Me

Release Date: April 15, 2014
Publisher: Bloomsbury Spark
ISBN13: 9781619635364
Genre: Young Adult/Dystopian
Review Copy Source: NetGalleyOne People. One Union. One Future.
Wynne’s entire life is dictated by the Union: the clothes she wears, the books she reads, even the genes she inherited. And like every other girl in the Union, Wynne dreams of being chosen as a Carrier on her 16th birthday—one of the elite selected to carry the future generation within her womb. Wynne and her best friend Odessa are certain they will both make the cut, but when Odessa is chosen and whisked off to a life of privilege, Wynne is left behind to work as an assistant, delivering perfectly planned babies for the Union.
As Odessa slips deeper and deeper into the role of Carrier, Wynne begins to see the Union for what it really is: a society that criminalizes the notion of love, and forbids words like mother and family.
For the first time in her life, Wynne is faced with a choice: submit to the will of the Union, or find a way to escape and save Odessa before she is lost forever.
DELIVER ME reminded me a little of the Eve Series by Anna Carey, but instead the girls WANT to be be used for their uterus and live in luxury. When Wynne doesn't make it as one of the revered carriers she is crushed. She soon finds out being chosen isn't all its cracked up to be and is intent on helping her best friend Odessa escape the life before its to late.
I liked the characters and I liked the pace of the story but there was a lot of background to cover and it felt like it ended just as it was starting to begin. I very much hope there will be a book 2 because the ending would be a horrible let down instead of a cliffhanger.
I gave it 3.5/5 stars

When he finally returns to Avalon for his coronation, his mother insists he must first prove his loyalty to the court by completing a secret mission:
Kill Kalin, the half-human, half-elemental daughter of the air court king.
Willing to do anything to remove his mother from power, he agrees to sacrifice the halfling. He returns to the mortal world with his best friend, Marcus, determined to kill the princess. But as he devises a plan, he starts to question whether or not he's capable of completing such a heinous task. And what price he will pay if he refuses?
This prequel novella is FREE and Amazon, and Barnes & Noble!
In THE SHADOW PRINCE we learn about Rowan as he learns how very vengeful his Queen Mother can be and how much her starts to care about a girl he doesn't even know. Its a very quick read but packed with plenty of action and danger in a new unique world. By the end I was excited to read what would come next.
THE SHADOW PRINCE was a great introduction to the world of Mortal Enchantment and gave us a great bit of background on the characters and story to come.
I gave it 4/5 stars

Vampire's Thirst
Author:Cynthia Garner
Release Date: May 6, 2014
Publisher: Forever Yours
Awakening Book #2
ISBN: 1455552607
ISBN13: 9781455552603
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Review Copy Source: NetGalleyStarting where Book 1 left off, Duncan MacDonnough has assumed leadership of the local vampire conclave and changes are being met with resistance.
Kimber Treat, the necromancer everyone (including her) blames for starting the zombie apocalypse in the first place. Duncan and Kimber are new in their love and the complications of zombies and hungry vampires puts stress on an already shaky relationship. Duncan wants to keep her safe, but Kimber still believes she can end the Outbreak. Will the cost be too great?
There is not much of a break between book 1 and book 2. Safe in the Vampire Conclave Kimber works towards a cure for the outbreak. We get plenty of little surprises along the way as well as plenty of romance between Kimber and Duncan. Kimber's up and down emotions was a little annoying but you quickly get over that.
I didn't feel like there was much growth with the characters but the end of the book did a good job of wrapping up the storyline. If your looking for a quick easy paranormal romance. This short series is for you.
I gave it 3.5/5 stars
