Jessica arrives back in town to find her best friend missing and the most powerful witch in the country is blaming her for it. But before they can move to save her, the group is attacked.

On the run, Jessica and Rourke head to the mountains. Several surprises await them, but in order to save her father they are forced to leave for New Orleans early.

Arriving on the Vampire Queen's doorstep unexpectedly, and bringing trouble on their heels, the Sects are thrown into an all out war. The vicious
skirmish ends up forcing the vamps and Jessica to fight on the same team.

The Vamp Queen ends up owing Jessica, but what Jessica doesn't realize is just how soon she'll have to cash it in...

As with the earlier books in the Jessica McClain series COLD BLOODED starts off right after the events of the previous book HOT BLOODED. There is no rest for the wicked as Jessica and her allies are thrown into running from the sorcerers that are working with the Demons and trying to rescue Marcy.

From the moment I read BLOODED I fell in love with Jessica. There is something about her that draws you in and holds you hostage while you wait to find out what more could possibly go wrong or right with her. She continues to grow into her new self at every turn. She has no problem getting her hands dirty and she is fiercely protective of anyone she cares about. What more could you want? Oh yeah, a sexy man by her side! All those Jessica and Rourke fans will not be disappointed with the events that happen between these two in COLD BLOODED. As you can guess by the title we have a good amount of time in the presence of vampires. Without going in to spoilers I can say that I was shocked, yet intrigued by what we learn about Eudoxia and the inner workings of the vampires. No matter what happens between Jessica and Eudoxia I know where Jessica is going in RED BLOODED and I plan to be along for the ride.

I have given the series so far a steady 5 but COLD BLOODED had me really missing Jessica's pack and I hated not seeing them front and center with her. I kept looking for them to spring up and although they did I didn't get as much time with them as I wanted. I know I suck. The Jessica McClain Series continues to be on my must read, must buy list. Each book has been packed with action, suspense and fabulous characters. I can not imagine why anyone would not enjoy this series.

I gave it 4.5/5 stars
