The Iron Queen

Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Iron Fey Book #3

Genre: YA Paranormal

My name is Meaghan Chase.

I thought it was over. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who's sworn to stay by my side. Drag me into the core of a conflict so powerful, I'm not sure anyone can survive it.

This time, there will be no turning back.

I don't know about anyone else but I sometimes find it super hard to review a book. Well this is one of them for me. For one this book was fantastic!! BUT the only things I want to talk about in the book are parts that if I tell you will spoil it so I'm at a loss for what to say. Julie Kagawa has a fantastic writing style that pulls you into her world and lets you feel what her characters feel and makes you experience everything right along with them. I felt sadness, grief, fear, happiness, pain, love, loss all right along with Meaghan, Ash, puck and everyone else. Meaghan goes threw a lot in this installment of the Iron Fey and comes out having lost, sacrificed and won all at the same time. If you liked The Iron King, Winters Passage and The Iron Daughter you are going to LOVE The Iron Queen and if you haven't already read them, you must pick them up and catch up for the release. ALSO if you haven't already heard the series isn't over, Julie is now working on Iron Fey #4 The Iron Knight!!

I give it a 5/5 stars

Book Review: Venom by Jennifer Estep

Venom
Release Date: September 28, 2010
Publisher: Pocket
ISBN: #9781439148013
Genre: Urban Fantasy
It’s hard to be a badass assassin when a giant is beating the crap out of you. Luckily, I never let pride get in the way of my work. My current mission is personal: annihilate Mab Monroe, the Fire elemental who murdered my family. Which means protecting my identity, even if I have to conceal my powerful Stone and Ice magic when I need it most. To the public, I’m Gin Blanco, owner of Ashland’s best barbecue joint. To my friends, I’m the Spider, retired assassin. I still do favors on the side. Like ridding a vampire friend of her oversized stalker—Mab’s right-hand goon who almost got me dead with his massive fists. At least irresistible Owen Grayson is on my side. The man knows too much about me, but I’ll take my chances. Then there’s Detective Bria Coolidge, one of Ashland’s finest. Until recently, I thought my baby sister was dead. She probably thinks the same about me. Little does she know, I’m a cold-blooded killer … who is about to save her life.

Gin is really getting things started with Mab in this book, I LOVE IT. Adding in Bria is awesome as well. I'm excited to see what happens between Gin and Bria and how Bria reacts when she finds out who Gin really is. It amazes me all the action Gin gets for being retired!! I also was super happy with Owen in this book, he is one hot hot man!! I cant wait until Gin kicks some Mab butt, the time cant come soon enough.

Review: Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready

Shade
Release Date: May 4, 2010
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Shade Book #1
ISBN: #9781416994060
Genre: YA
Review Copy Source: Won from Nocturne Romance Reads
Love ties them together.
Death can't tear them apart.
Best. Birthday. Ever. At least, it was supposed to be. With Logan's band playing a critical gig and Aura's plans for an intimate after-party, Aura knows it will be the most memorable night of her boyfriend's life. She never thought it would be his last.
Logan's sudden death leaves Aura devastated. He's gone.
Well, sort of.
Like everyone born after the Shift, Aura can see and hear ghosts. This mysterious ability has always been annoying, and Aura had wanted nothing more than to figure out why the Shift happened so she can undo it. But not with Logan’s violet-hued spirit still hanging around. Because dead Logan is almost as real as ever. Almost.
It doesn't help that Aura’s new friend Zachary is so understanding—and so very alive. His support means more to Aura than she cares to admit.
As Aura's relationships with the dead and the living grow ever complicated, so do her feelings for Logan and Zachary. Each holds a piece of Aura's heart…and clues to the secret of the Shift.

I found Shade to be extremely interesting. The whole concept of all babies after a certain date and time being born with being able to see ghosts is fascinating. I had no trouble at all staying interested in the story the whole thing made me want to know more and more of what was going to happen next and what the characters were going to do. I cant wait to find out more about Aura and Zachary and how there births coincide with the shift and what will happen in there relationship.

This week's question comes from Christina who blogs at All About YA Books:

"If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?"

I VERY rarely don't start with the first book, Well lets just say I have only done it once and that was only because there were like 15 other books in the series and I was promised the books don't mention things that happened in the previous books.

Review: Grave Witch by Kalayna Price

Grave Witch
Release Date: October 5, 2010
Publisher: ROC
Alex Craft Book #1
ISBN: #9780451463807
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Grave witch Alex Craft can speak to the dead, but that doesn’t mean she likes what they have to say . . .
As a private investigator and consultant for the police, Alex Craft has seen a lot of dark magic. But even though she’s on good terms with Death himself—who happens to look fantastic in a pair of jeans—nothing has prepared her for her latest case. Alex is investigating a high profile murder when she’s attacked by the ‘shade’ she’s raising, which should be impossible. To top off her day, someone makes a serious attempt on her life, but Death saves her. Guess he likes having her around . . .
To solve this case Alex will have to team up with tough homicide detective Falin Andrews. Falin seems to be hiding something—though it’s certainly not his dislike of Alex—but Alex knows she needs his help to navigate the tangled webs of mortal and paranormal politics, and to track down a killer wielding a magic so malevolent, it may cost Alex her life . . . and her soul.

I found this to be a great start to a new series. I really enjoyed reading the start of Alex's story. There is tons of action that kept me enthralled. I cant wait to read more about the love triangle and how it turns out. Is it to early to say I think im team Death??  This is a must read you wont be able to put it down!!
