Izel Campbell was raised to believe she is an immortal Fionn with the magical skills of persuasion. But when she travels to Scotland to visit her ancestral home, Izel discovers that she is actually the world’s last living human. Forced to run for her life, Izel crosses paths with Kelvin Kerr, the Campbells’ greatest foe—and the most magnificent warrior she has ever seen.
A thousand-year-old battle chief of the Kerr clan, Kelvin lives only to avenge his father, who died at the hands of the bloody Campbells. Honor demands he kill the Campbell heir, but when he learns that the lovely Izel is both Campbell and human, Kelvin is torn between duty and desire . . .
Izel has been raised to believe she is immortal like the rest of the world but she is in fact the last living human. Kelvin has dedicated his life to avenge his father by killing all the descendants of the Campbell clan. When he is about o kill the last Campbell heir he is shocked to see not only is it a beautiful woman but she is the last human alive and happens to be his fated mate.
It was a rocky road getting there but the relationship between Izel and Kelvin ended up being super sweet and strong with some great sexual tension and sneak peek scenes in between. They bickered and denied each other for most of the book only to come together and then be ripped apart again right when you think they have made it to safety. The first half of the book revolved around Izel and Kelvin's journey back to his home and them getting to know each other along the way but there was a decent amount of action from start to finish.
The character growth and the world in which they live was easy to follow and interesting to learn about. There were a few slow parts but for the most part the story moved at a fast pace. The secondary characters did a good job of giving us a little insight into what may come next in books to come and I hope that there will be plenty of updates on Izel and Kelvin in them.
I gave it 3.5/5 stars
