Interview + Giveaway: Deepest Midnight by Clara Winter ( @ClaraWinter10 )

UFI welcomes Author Clara Winter. Thanks for Joining us!!

What can you tell my readers about yourself that they might not know from looking on your bio or reading in another interview?

I am a big dog lover. I really love all dogs, but Siberian Huskies are my favorite breed. I have worked for a rescue in the past, and we have had the honor of providing a permanent home for five sweet huskies and a short-term foster home for one. We currently have two 9-year-old Siberians, and they are showing no signs of slowing down.

What do you enjoy doing on your down time?

We live in Southern California, so I very much enjoy the beach and Disneyland. I’m kind of a Disney addict and go whenever I have the chance. I’m also an avid reader and am always reading something.

What is your Favorite part of writing?

Having an outlet to express myself creatively, is the best. Secondly, there is almost nothing better than seeing bits and pieces of ideas come together to form a complete story. Seeing the finished product, a piece you have worked so hard on, is pure joy.

Do you have any certain routines you must follow as you write?

I have to begin writing in the morning, immediately after my first cup of coffee. If I can manage that, then I am usually pretty productive. If it gets to be too late in the day before I begin, then I just feel off and rarely get into a good groove.

What are some of your Favorite books or Authors in the Urban Fantasy/ Paranormal Genres?

Anne Rice, all the way. She was the writer who ignited my love for paranormal. Anything she writes is gold, in my opinion. I have also enjoyed the Sookie Stackhouse Series and Sherilyn Kenyon’s Demon Hunter Novels, to name a couple.

How would you pitch Deepest Midnight, Book One of the Immortal Kindred Series to someone who has not heard of it before?

Deepest Midnight is the story of a vampiress, who was once a French noblewoman. The love of her life was murdered before she became immortal. Two hundred years later she locks eyes with a man who looks exactly like her lost love. Is this a second chance love or another tragedy waiting to happen?

Can you tell us a little bit about the world that Deepest Midnight is set in?

Deepest Midnight is set in modern day Savannah, Georgia with occasional glimpses back to 18th century France.

Do you have a favorite scene in Deepest Midnight?

There are a few, but my favorites are the scenes of the past. Describing the historical fashion and jewels was so much fun.

Which one character out of all your books was your favorite to write about? What about the hardest to write about?

I just finished Book Three, in which I tell the story of Alexandre. He has become my favorite character, which surprised me. Again, I don’t want to give too much away, but he has quite the exciting story. The hardest to write about was a secondary character from Deepest Midnight, but no spoilers.

What Other Projects can we look forward to reading from you?

Rebel Heart, Book Two of The Immortal Kindred Series releases in February 2019. The King of Kings, Book Three, releases in July 2019.

 True love never dies.

At least, it doesn’t for Millicent, a once French noblewoman turned immortal vampire. The love of her life is murdered before she became immortal. Forever is a long time to live in despair. Two hundred forty years later, she locks eyes with an English actor, who happens to look exactly like her dead lover.

Sadness turns to happiness as Millicent and Jack find passion in each other’s arms. Their fling quickly turns serious as Millicent finds happiness once again—and possibly her one true love.

However, their relationship becomes complicated by her own uncertainty, Jack’s mortality, and the other man in Millicent’s life, Alexandre, her maker and companion. When Alexandre puts his foot down, Millicent must decide if she’s going to continue to be led by others or take the reins and drive the outcome of her life.

Deepest Midnight is set in modern day Savannah, Ga with occasional glimpses back to 18th century France. This is the first book in The Immortal Kindred Series.

Excerpt:

“Go be miserable somewhere else, Millicent,” grumbles Alexandre.
It’s going to be one of those nights. Alexandre pulls me up and hands me my black leather clutch. He steers me toward the darkly stained front door of our antebellum Savannah home. Before opening the door, he bends down to put shoes on my feet, like I’m a child. If he wants me to brood elsewhere, I will. Alexandre appreciates people who are bright and cheery. His reason for tolerating my presence for so long is one of life’s many mysteries.
“We have all lost people we love, Mills. We go on. If you can’t ever learn to do the same, what’s the point?”
“Good question, what is the point?”
“You can choose to be happy again. I’m not sure how much longer I can stand to have you around like this. For tonight, go find something to distract your mind.”
I can’t blame Alexandre for wanting me to disappear this evening. The life of the party tires of the buzz kill. Thankfully, one of the many wonderful things about Savannah is the abundance of mysterious spots, all perfect for sulking. Secluded squares, thick with foliage dripping in Spanish moss, decaying alleyways lined with ancient cobblestone, and hidden stone staircases topped with wrought iron railings, all provide perfect places to hide away. My stormy mood, has long felt at home in this haunted city.
